Asian Games 2010

The Asian Games, officially known as Asiad, is a multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The Games were regulated by the Asian Games Federation (AGF) from the first Games in New Delhi, India, until the 1982 Games. Since the 1982 they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), after the break up of the Asian Games Federation. The Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.

As for Canoeing it has been in the program since 2002, but without a doubt that is was the first time the level was of such high standard, with fast times and close racing in all the events. The GAGOC putted a great show at the Olympic level, with all the standards and facilities reaching Beijing 08 levels.

Nelo was represented with a service team, and delivered boats to some of the participants, it was not a busy week for our standards, but it was one more good learning experience, and to be involved in such a great event was a great experience by itself.

From a sport point of view, special note for them Japan that won 3 out of the 4 golds in 200 mt events (New Olympic discipline), Uzbekistan that won the C2 1000 and the “charismatic” K4 1000mt and also a special note for Kazakhstan that even missing out on the gold achieved more than a handful of medals in these Games.
